Tom Dykstra had an outstanding athletic career at Wheaton in the late 1960s as a basketball and tennis player. Tom’s name is high on numerous Wheaton basketball records including: most points in a single season, scoring average per game in a season, most points scored in a game, total career points, total career rebounds and career scoring average. Tom received All-State College Division honors during his sophomore and junior seasons, and he was an All-CCIW selection his final two seasons. He also earned All-American Honorable Mention recognition in 1969 and was drafted by the NBA’s Baltimore Bullets upon graduation in 1970. In Tennis, Tom played two years at No. 1 singles and won the majority of his matches.
