Carol McEwing Harding was a versatile student-athlete who competed in four sports whose combined records before she graduated in 1968 were 40-4. Carol demonstrated her coaches’ claim she was “the finest field hockey goalkeeper in the Midwest” the day she saved 19 shots in the first half alone vs. Northern Illinois. She played on four winning field hockey teams at Wheaton.

As a member of the Wheaton’s first undefeated women’s basketball team (1967-68), she had an overtime bucket that helped preserve the streak over Calvin and scored 278 points in her four years. Carol also played softball and tennis before going on to a coaching career.
