Heather recalls, "One of my favorite memories was created at Nationals my senior year. I invited all the heptathletes to join hands before the first event of our two-day competition, and almost everyone gathered together for a prayer; the comradery during that event was incredible."
Â
She recollects, "'Lighten up Pancake' is something my basketball coach, Beth Baker, used to say to me. Coach Baker was referring to how I often took the game too seriously, and she always encouraged me to pursue excellence but enjoy the process and take pleasure in the game. Her words are a continued reminder to be in the moment and enjoy life."
