Dick Kamm produced a solid athletic career with the Crusaders on the basketball and baseball teams. Kamm captained Coach Lee Pfund’s 1956-57 basketball team to the NCAA College Division championship and a masterful 28-1 record. Dick scored 458 points (15.8 per game), hit 50 percent of his shots, 79 percent of his free throws and hauled down 258 rebounds in an unbeaten league season, being named an All-Conference center. He was also a valuable sixth man on the 28-4 team that finished fourth in the NAIA his junior year.

On the diamond, Kamm pitched in 33 career games and played in the field between starts. He had a career 13-8 record including 9-3 in conference games. During his senior season, Dick struck out 47 batters in 47 innings to win four games for a team that finished second in the CCI. He won all three of his conference starts and posted the best ERA (3.01) of his career.
