Wheaton women's track and field wraps up final day of CCIW Indoor Championships

Kenosha, Wis. – The CCIW indoor track and field championships came to a conclusion Saturday afternoon at Carthage College, and the Thunder women finished the meet with 47 points as a team, good for eighth place. The conference team championship was awarded to North Central, who finished with a score of 147 points.
 
Friday's results included a win in the 5000-meter run for Susannah Bennett, and on Saturday, Bennett followed up with a second-place finish in the 3000-meter.
 
Abi Gum (PICTURED ABOVE), who was Friday's individual champion in the pentathlon, earned a pair of fourth-place finishes on Saturday. In the 200-meter run, Gum finished in 26.40, while in the 400-meter, she clocked in at 1:01.03.
 
Wheaton's 4x400 relay squad, comprised of Olivia Eisses, Amy Keane, Gum, and Maddie Cote, finished in sixth place with a time of 4:15.66. Keane also placed in the 55-meter hurdles, finishing seventh in 9.79 seconds. Meanwhile, Anna Cressman made the podium in the shot put, finishing in eighth place with a toss of 11.79 meters.
 
A few members of Wheaton's team will compete next weekend in a "last chance" meet, prior to the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships, which are being held March 11 and 12 in Winston-Salem, N.C.
