Bennett, Gum are individual champions; women's track and field in sixth after day one of CCIW Indoor Championship Meet

Kenosha, Wis. – With six events, and the first day, of the CCIW Indoor Track & Field Championships completed, the Wheaton women's track and field team boasts two individual conference champions and is tied for sixth as a team with 23 points. Heading into day two, North Central leads the championship meet with 59 points.
 
Continuing a dominant indoor season in the 5000-meter run, Wheaton's Susannah Bennett (PICTURED ABOVE) is the CCIW champion in that event with a time of 17:56.09.
 
Meanwhile, Abi Gum was the individual champion of the women's indoor pentathlon. Gum scored 3,155 points to win, and teammate Olivia Eisses finished in eighth with 2,413 points.
 
In the 4000-meter distance medley relay, the Thunder's squad made up of Dianna Gagnon, Alyssa Milligan, Chloe Veth, and Natalie Conrad took seventh place, finishing with a time of 13:21.45.
 
The remainder of the championship meet, which is being held at Carthage College, will take place tomorrow.
