Thunder track and field teams participate in the Chicagoland Outdoor Track & Field Championships

Elmhurst, Ill. – Wheaton was one of 28 institutions to compete in this weekend's Chicagoland Outdoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by Elmhurst University. Wheaton had two first-place efforts this weekend, both coming in the high jump events as All-Americans Grace Crowder and Ty Bova each won their respective high jump events.

WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
Crowder had an effort of 1.64-meters (5' 4-1/2") to finish first in the 28-woman field in the women's high jump. Hannah Tompkins placed eighth in the women's javelin with a toss of 30.48-meters (100' 0").

Thunder freshman Clodagh O'Bryant finished fourth in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:40.31. Senior Elizabeth LaBrin finished sixth in the same event with a time of 11:44.24.

Sophomore Hannah Harris placed fourth in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:07.46. Heidi Krekelberg finished fifth in the finals of the women's 100-meter finals with a time of 12.18-seconds.

The Wheaton women's 4x100-meter relay team of Rose Spagnolo, Sadie Richert, Krekelberg and Harris finished second out of 10 quartets in the event. The Wheaton relay team recorded a time of 48.46-seconds. The same Wheaton foursome also competed in the women's 4X400-meter relay, earning third place with a time of 4:02.22.

MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
Bova finished first in the men's high jump, besting a field of 17 competitors. Bova recorded a height of 2.03-meters (6' 7-3/4"). Bova's effort ranks 12th in Division III this season.

Isaac Bledsoe finished second in the 41-man field in the men's long jump. Bledsoe's top effort was a leap of 6.68-meters (21' 11").

Ben Maher recorded a toss of 51.29-meters (168' 3") in the men's javelin. Maher's effort came in a field of 38 competitors.

UP NEXT
The Thunder track and field teams host the Don Church Twilight Meet next Saturday at McCully Stadium and Lawson Field. Throwing events are scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. at Lawson Field. Running events will begin at 2:30 p.m. at McCully Stadium, followed by the high jump, long jump and pole vault at 2:45 p.m.
