Warrenville, Ill. - The Wheaton cross country teams participated in North Central's Red and White Invitational on a 3,000-meter course at St. James Farm Forest Preserve on Thursday afternoon. Wheaton's women finished second in a six-team field and the Thunder men placed second of four teams.
WashU finished first in the women's standings with 15 points, Wheaton scored 70 points in second place, North Central placed third with 73 points, Carroll scored 114 points in fourth place, St. Mary-of-the-Woods finished fifth with 132 points and Moody Bible Institute scored 145 points in sixth place.
Michaela Jones of WashU finished first in the 85-woman field. Jones posted a time of 17:48.3.
Senior Megan Bailey was the top performer for the Thunder women with a time of 18:07.0 in seventh place. Sophomore Kaitlin Armstrong posted a time of 18:29.2 in 19th place and junior Elise Alexander finished 25th in 18:48.8. Sophomore Morgan Moxley finished 33rd in 19:03.2 and Shayne Bower was 44th in 19:41.7. Junior Cassidy Thornburg was 45th in 19:48.7 and freshman Dianna Gagnon placed 48th in 19:58.6.
WashU took first place in the men's team standings with 15 points. Wheaton scored 69 points in second place, Aurora finished third with 83 points and St. Mary-of-the-Woods scored 85 points in fourth place.
WashU sophomore Joe Stover finished first in the 59-man field. Stover recorded a first-place time of 14:45.4
Thunder senior Soren Johnson was Wheaton's top performer in 16th place with a time of 15:43.3 Mitchell Smith placed 20th with a time of 15:50.4 and Colbe Clark was 22nd in 15:53. Senior Noah Brase was 24th in 15:54.8 and freshman Robert Irwin finished 15:57.0. Thunder freshman Daniel Morken placed 26th in 16:02.5 and Joe Caraway was 28th in 16:06.9.
The Thunder cross country teams return to action November 10 at the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional at Whitetail Golf Course in Colfax, Wisconsin.
