Men's cross country finishes third at Augustana's Brissman-Lundeen Invitational

Rock Island, Ill. - The Wheaton Thunder cross country teams returned to action on Saturday at Augustana College's 42nd Annual Brissman Lundeen Invitational at Saukie Golf Course. The Wheaton men's cross country team placed third in a 12-team field, while the Thunder women's team finished second in a seven-team field.

University of Chicago finished first in the men's team standings with 28 points, while the University of Illinois Cross Country Club placed second with 62 points. Wheaton scored 85 points in third place, Millikin was fourth with 90 points, and the Northwestern University Club finished fifth with 109 points.

Calvin Davies of the Northwestern University Club finished first with a time of 26:04.2 on the 8K course. Percy Moser of the Illinois Club was second in 26:22.8, and Simeon Gheysen of UChicago was third with  a time of 26:33.2.

Wheaton junior Josh Steiner finished 11th in the 100-man field with a time of 27:09.9. Freshman Matthais Everest placed 12th in 27:09.9, while sophomore Jude Hubbard was 18th in 27:29.8. Senior Sheldon Powell placed 21st with a time of 27:42.7, and sophomore Joshua Cross was 23rd in 27:47.1. Senior Luke Wertz placed 26th in a time of 27:53.0 and sophomore Drew Swiston was 33rd in 28:10.9.

Wheaton will make its second-consecutive of three-straight trips to Rock Island on October 18 for the Augustana Interregional Invitational. Augustana and Saukie Golf Course will also host the CCIW Championships on November 1.
