Decorah, Iowa - The Wheaton Thunder women's tennis team opened its 2017-18 season on Saturday afternoon with an 8-1 victory at Luther College. The Thunder will open conference play next Saturday with matches at Illinois Wesleyan and Millikin.

The Thunder won five of the six singles matches against Luther today. Senior captain Katie Park was a 6-1, 6-0 victor at No. 1 singles against Jackie Cychosz. Sara Magnuson gained a 6-0, 6-2 victory against Anna Pearson at No. 2 singles and Miranda Kay was a 6-0, 6-0 winner against Claire Christian at No. 3 singles. Emma Westwick picked up a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 4 singles against Britta Pressler and Claire Browning earned a 6-3, 6-1 victory against Kelsey Kruse at No. 5 singles

Browning and Park teamed up for an 8-4 win at No. 1 doubles against Christian and Cychosz. Kay and Magnuson earned an 8-4 win at No. 2 singles and Westwick paired with Nicole Freeman for an 8-6 victory at No. 3 doubles.
