Wheaton, Ill. - The Wheaton women's tennis team hosted Elmhurst University on Monday afternoon in a makeup match for a contest that was originally scheduled for last month. The Thunder shutout the shorthanded Bluejays, 7-0.
Tatum Thurstone earned a 6-2, 6-0 victory at No. 1 singles against Olivia Hernandez. Wheaton's
Molly Ramsey was a 6-0, 6-0 against Asma Hasan at No. 2 singles and
Sophie Dew picked up a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles against Elmhurst's Zaina Daghash.
Mia Luo was a 6-0, 6-1 victor against Courtney Schneider at No. 4 singles, while Wheaton's
Carly O'Leary won a 6-0, 6-1 decision against Kathleen Castillo.
Mariclare O'Gorman won the match at No. 6 singles by default.
The Thunder No. 1 doubles team of Thurstone and Kim Karis picked up a 6-0 victory against Daghash and Hernandez.
Ella Malone and Ramsey defeated Elmhurst's No. 2 doubles team of Hasan and Schneider, 6-1. Elmhurst was unable to field a team at No. 3 doubles as the Thunder tandem of Luo and O'Leary won by default.
Wheaton is now 7-0 overall and 6-0 in CCIW play with two conference matches left on the fall schedule. The Thunder travel to Augustana on Saturday to face the CCIW's second-place team. The Vikings currently have a 4-2 overall record with a 4-1 mark in CCIW play.   Â
