Moline, Ill. - Augustana defeated the Thunder women's tennis team 5-4 on Saturday in the Final of the 2017 CCIW AQ Tournament. Augustana (24-6) earns the CCIW's automatic bid to the upcoming NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Tournament as a result of the win. Wheaton concludes the season with a 20-3 overall record.
Augustana gained an early 2-1 lead by winning two of the three doubles matches. Wheaton's lone win in doubles competition was an 8-6 victory for the No. 3 doubles team of
Kirstie White (PICTURED ABOVE) and
Claire Browning.
White rallied to earn a 2-6, 6-1, 6-4 victory at No. 4 singles against Augustana's Zeana Badawi.
Sara Magnuson was a 6-0, 6-0 winner at No. 5 singles against the Vikings' Vicki Andonova and
Emma Westwick picked up a 6-0, 6-0 victory against Augustana's Madeline Lombardi at No. 6 singles.
