Rock Island, Ill. - The Wheaton College women's tennis team earned a 5-0 victory against Carthage College (15-9) on Friday in a semifinal matchup of the CCIW AQ Tournament. Today's victory advances Wheaton (17-1) to the CCIW AQ Tournament Final against Augustana. Augustana (24-7) defeated North Central (11-8) on Friday morning in the tournament's other semifinal match. Wheaton will take on the VIkings at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the Quad Cities Tennis Club, with the winner of the match earning the CCIW's automatic bid to the upcoming NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Tournament.

Wheaton jumped out to an early 3-0 lead with victories in all three doubles matches. Senior Julie Buursma teamed with Katie Park for an 8-5 win at number-one doubles against Casey Frommer and Angelica Ammanouil of Carthage. Emily Jones and Kirstie White picked up an 8-6 victory at number-two doubles against Carthage's Max Mella and Taylor Bolyard. The Thunder tandem of Miranda Kay and Erika Nelson earned an 8-4 victory at number-three doubles against Kristen Kalinka and Eliza Barter.

Jones was a 6-3, 6-2 winner at number-three singles against Bolyard and Kay defeated Kalinka 6-1, 6-0 as Wheaton earned the five points it needed to secure the victory and advance to Saturday's final.
