Wheaton, Ill. - The Thunder women's tennis team closed out its regular season schedule on Friday with a 9-0 victory against Lake Forest College (15-7). Wheaton is now 16-1 on the season.

Senior Julie Buursma defeated Lake Forest's Christi Valicenti 6-3, 6-2 at number-one singles. Katie Park was a 6-4, 6-2 winner at number-two singles against Grace Dowling and Wheaton's Emily Jones earned a 6-0, 6-1 win against Allison Watts. Kirstie White picked up a 6-1, 6-4 victory against Lucia Stumbras at number-four singles and Miranda Kay was a 6-1, 6-0 victory at number-five singles. Freshman Sara Magnuson earned a 6-0, 6-0 win against Whitney Navarro at number-six singles. Magnuson improved her singles record for the season to 19-0 as she closed the regular season with an unblemished record.

Buursma and Park teamed to earn an 8-2 victory at number-one doubles against Lake Forest's Valicenti and Dowling. White and Jones won an 8-6 matchup at number-two doubles against Watts and Stumbras at number-two doubles. Wheaton's number-three doubles team of Kay and Erika Nelson won an 8-0 decision against Navarro and Kopish.

The Thunder will participate in the CCIW AQ Tournament on April 29 in Rock Island, Illinois. Second-seeded Wheaton will face third-seed Carthage at 3:00 p.m. in one semifinal and top-seeded Augustana will host fourth-seeded North Central at noon in the opening semifinal. The semifinal winners will face each other on April 30 in the finals, with the winner of that match earning the CCIW's automatic bid to the upcoming NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championship.
