Hanover Park, Ill. - The Thunder women's tennis team opened up the spring portion of its 2015-16 schedule on Saturday morning with a matchup against Calvin College (2-1). The Thunder won a 9-0 decision against the Knights.
Senior
Julie Buursma was a 6-0, 6-3 winner at number-one singles and sophomore
Katie Park rallied to pick up a 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 victory at number-two singles.
Emily Jones won a 6-0, 6-0 decision at number-three singles for the Thunder and
Kirstie White was a 6-1, 6-1 victor at number-four singles.
Miranda Kay won a 6-2, 6-1 matchup at number-five singles and Wheaton freshman
Sara Magnuson was a 6-1, 6-0 winner at number-six singles.
Park and Buursma teamed to earn an 8-5 win at number-one singles. Jones paired with Anna-Katharine Barret for an 8-0 victory at number-two singles and Kay was an 8-4 winner at number-three singles alongside doubles teammate

Wheaton, now 10-1 on the year, will return to action on March 9 when the Thunder will face Saint Mary's College (Ind.) in Orlando, Florida as part of the team's annual spring break trip. The Thunder will play three matches in the Orlando area during the trip.
