Wheaton, Ill. - The Wheaton women's tennis team def. North Park 9-0 on Tuesday afternoon at the Wheaton College Tennis Courts. Today's contest was the first match for the Thunder since a 9-0 victory at home against Elmhurst on September 20.
Katie Park was a 6-3, 6-3 victor at number-one singles for the Thunder and
Emily Jones was a 6-3, 6-4 winner at number-two singles.
Miranda Kay picked up a 6-0, 6-1 victory at number-three singles and
Kirstie White was a 6-0, 6-0 winner at match for number-four singles.
Sara Magnuson (number-five singles) and
Emma Westwick (number-six singles) each earned 6-0, 6-0 victories in their respective matches.
Jones and Park teamed to earn an 8-5 victory at number-one doubles. The tandem of Magnuson and Kay picked up an 8-2 win at number-two doubles. Wheaton's number-three doubles team of
Kate Booker and Westwick earned an 8-0 win for the hosts.
Wheaton improves to 8-1 on the year and remains undefeated in CCIW play with a 5-0 conference record. North Park is now 1-9 on the year and 0-5 in CCIW.
Wheaton will travel to Wisconsin this weekend for a pair of conference matches. The Thunder will play at Carthage on Friday afternoon in a 4:00 p.m. match; and Wheaton will be at Carroll University of a 2:30 matchup with the Pioneers on Saturday.
