Waukesha, Wis. - The Wheaton women's tennis team picked up its eighth consecutive win on Saturday afternoon with a crucial 8-1 CCIW win at Augustana (10-1, 7-1 CCIW). Today's victory improves Wheaton to 11-1 on the season with an 8-0 record in CCIW play.

Head coach Jane Nelson said of her squad following Saturday's win, "I am so proud of the team today. Everyone really executed well under pressure and played some tough tennis today."

Thunder junior Katie Park earned the 6-4, 6-3 victory for Wheaton at No. 1-singles against Augustana's Lauren Goggin. Emily Jones picked up a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 2-singles against Dana Goggin. Wheaton's Miranda Kay was a 6-4, 6-2 winner against Caitlyn Schaffer at No. 3-singles and Kirstie White earned a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 4-singles over Augustana's Zeana Badawi. Sara Magnuson was a 6-1, 6-0 winner at No. 5-singles against Vicki Andonova and Emma Westwick picked up the 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 6-singles against Madeline Lombardi.

Augustana's No. 1-doubles team of Dana Goggin and Schaffer topped the Thunder duo of Park and Jones 8-6. Kay and Magnuson earned an 8-1 victory at No. 2-doubles over Lauren Goggin and Badawi. Wheaton's No. 3-doubles tandem of White and Westwick topped Augustana's team of Andonova and Lombardi 8-5.

Today's match was the final regular season contest for the Thunder on its fall schedule. Wheaton will compete at the 2016 CCIW Women's Tennis Championship next Thursday-Saturday in Hanover Park, Illinois.
