Wheaton, Ill. - The Thunder women's tennis team hosted Carroll University on Saturday afternoon and earned an 8-1 win against Pioneers. Wheaton (2-0) will return to action on Sept. 12 when the thunder will travel to Illinois Wesleyan and Millikin for CCIW matches against the Titans and Big Blue.

Senior Julie Buursma was a 6-2, 6-1 winner against Carroll's Megan Krzewinski at number-one singles. Katie Park earned a 6-3, 6-1 victory at number-two singles against Lauren Miketinac and Miranda Kay was a 6-1, 6-0 winner at number-four singles against Shanna Mogden. Thunder freshman Sara Magnuson picked up a 6-0, 6-0 win at number-five singles against Alison Lambrecht and Erika Nelson won a 7-6, 7-5 decision against Lauren Goebel at number-six singles.

The tandem of Park and Buursma earned an 8-2 victory at number-one doubles. Emily Jones and Anna-Katherine Barrett picked up an 8-2 win at number-two doubles and the groupiing of Kay and Nelson also earned an 8-2 victory at number-three doubles.
