Casselberry, Fla. - The Wheaton women's tennis team earned a hard-fought 5-4 victory against Coe College on Thursday afternoon in Florida. Both teams entered today's match in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division III Central Region rankings. Wheaton is ranked 15th in the regional poll and Coe (14-5) is ranked 10th.

Wheaton's Julie Buursma was a 6-3, 6-4 winner at number-one singles against Haley Resnick. Freshman Katie Park earned a 6-3, 6-1 victory against Amy Sebastian at number-two singles. Miranda Kay earned a 6-1, 3-6, 6-4 win at number-five singles against Sarah Lasecki.

The Thunder picked up two key points with a pair of wins in doubles action. Buursma and Park teamed for an 8-6 win at number-one singles. Kay partnered with freshman Kirstie for an 8-4 win at number-three doubles.

Wheaton (11-3) will conclude its three-match trip to Florida on Friday with a match against Saint Mary's (Ind.).
