Wheaton, Ill. – The Wheaton women's tennis team picked up a key CCIW win on Saturday afternoon as the Thunder topped previously undefeated Augustana 6-3 at home. The Vikings fall to 12-1 on the year and 6-1 in CCIW play. Wheaton is now 9-1 overall and concludes the fall dual match schedule for CCIW play with a 7-0 CCIW record. The Thunder will travel to the CCIW Women's Tennis Championships next weekend at Centre Court Athletic Club in Hanover Park, Illinois.

The Vikings started the match with two wins in doubles play to take a 2-1 lead. However, the Thunder won five of the six singles matches to rally for the win.
Thunder senior Julie Buursma (PICTURED ABOVE) earned a key win at number-one singles against Augustana standout Lauren Goggin. Buursma was a 6-2 winner in the first set, Goggin wont the second set 7-6 and Buursma closed out the win with a 6-4 victory in the third set.

Sophomore Katie Park earned a 7-5, 6-4 win victory against Dana Goggin at number-two singles. Emily Jones earned a 6-4, 6-2 win for the Thunder at number-three singles as she bested Augustana's Mollie Magee. Miranda Kay was a 6-4, 6-2 winner against Caitlyn Schaffer at number five-singles as singles success played a key role for the hosts.
Kay teamed with Erika Nelson to earn Wheaton's lone win in doubles play. The pair picked up the 9-8 win against Schaffer and Madeline Lombardi at number-three doubles
