Wheaton, Ill. - The Wheaton women's tennis team improved to 3-1 on the season by splitting a pair of matches on Saturday. Wheaton opened with a 7-2 loss to UW-Whitewater and finished the day with a 9-0 shutout of Carroll University. Miranda Kay and Erika Nelson were victorious in both matches at No. 5 and No. 6 singles respectively. Kay won a thrilling three-set match against Whitewater's Alicia Beck by a score of 6-3, 5-7, 1-0 (10-4) before winning 6-0, 6-0 against Carroll. Wheaton will next be in action on Thursday when the Thunder host Elmhurst at 4:30 pm.
