Rock Island, Ill. - The Thunder women's tennis team picked up an 8-1 victory at Augustana College (6-2/1-2 CCIW) on Saturday afternoon. Wheaton is now 5-1 on the year, with a three-match win streak, and the squad is 3-0 in conference play.

Junior Julie Buursma was a 6-0, 7-5 winner at number-one singles. Senior Lauren Schlabach picked up a 7-5, 4-6, 6-4 win at number three-singles and freshman Kirstie White was a 6-1, 6-1 winner at number-four singles. Freshman Miranda Kay earned a 6-2, 6-0 win at number-five singles and Erika Nelson was a 6-1, 6-0 victor at number-six singles.

Buursma teamed with freshman Katie Park for an 8-4 win at number-one doubles. White and Schlabach picked up an 8-2 win at number-two doubles and Nelson paired with Kay for an 8-3 victory at number-three doubles.

Wheaton will return to action on Sept. 27 at 2 p.m. with a CCIW match at North Central.
