Wheaton, Ill. - The Thunder women's tennis team played a pair of non-conference matches against Wisconsin foes on Saturday. Wheaton topped UW-LaCrosse 6-3 in a match on Saturday morning. UW-Whitewater handed Wheaton its first loss of the year in an 8-1 Warhawks' victory in a match that went well into the evening.
Wheaton is now 5-1 on the year. Wheaton will play a pair of matches in Rock Island, Illinois on September 22 when the Thunder face Augustana and St. Ambrose in the Quad Cities.
PLEASE NOTE: Wheaton's match against Illinois Wesleyan that was originally schedule for September 19 has been moved to September 26.
Freshman
Julie Buursma picked up two victories at number-six singles on Saturday. In the morning she won a 6-2, 6-0 decision against Andrea Vivian of UW-LaCrosse. In the evening contest Buursma defeated UW-Whitewater's Abby Day 6-2, 6-0. Buursman now holds a 6-0 record in singles action this fall.
