Wheaton men are second and women are third at the inaugural Wheaton Gil Dodds Invitational

Warrenville, Ill. – The Thunder cross country teams hosted the inaugural Gil Dodds Invitational at St. James Farm in Warrenville, Illinois. The Wheaton men's team was second in an eight-team field and the Thunder women's program was third in a five-team field.

Washington University (Mo.) won the men's race with 24 points, Wheaton scored 38 points in second place, North Central's Freshman Team was third with 106 points, North Central also had a team in fourth place with 107 points, Elmhurst took fifth with 125 points, College of DuPage was sixth with 183 points, Benedictine scored 197 points in seventh place and Carthage finished eighth with 227 points.

Jake Waterman was the top finisher on the 8K course for the host Thunder with a time of 25:48.52 in third place. His brother, James Waterman, was fourth in 25:48.74 and Jacob Goertz was fifth with a time of 25:53.81. Brett Haffner posted a time of 26:09.65 in 11th place and Nate Veldt was 15th in 26:15.84. Parker Thompson was 16th in 26:19.21 and Nathan Knautz was 29th in 26:46.78. Wheaton's Ethan Harris posted a time of 26:48.11 in 30th place and Gatlin Marlow was 31st in 26:51.90.

Washington University (Mo.) won the women's race with a total of 25 points; North Central was second with 39 points, Wheaton and Carthage each tallied 89 points in a tie for 89 points and Benedictine was fifth with 150 points.

Jennifer Anderson was the top runner for the Thunder on the 6K course with a time of 23:12.11 in 15th place and Annie Shults finished 17th with a time of 23:28.18. Alyssa Robinson finished 28th in 24:11.55 and Parker Gary was 30th with a time of 24:17.21. Meaghan Zang was 32nd with a time of 24:18.74 and Emma Krieter was 36th in 24:22.49. Rachael Cyrus posted a time of 24:25.71 in 37th place and Carmen Williams was 38th in 24:32.34.
