Wheaton, Ill. - The Wheaton College women's tennis team, ranked 30th in the most recent ITA Division III Coaches Poll, defeated Edgewood College 8-1 on Friday afternoon. The Thunder swept all six singles matches in two sets each. The Eagles only earned more than one game in one of the 12 singles sets that were contested. Wheaton is now 18-2 on the year, while Edgewood falls to 14-11 on the season.

Wheaton will compete at the 2011 CCIW Women's Tennis Automatic Qualifier Tournament next weekend. The top-seeded Thunder will face fourth seeded Illinois Wesleyan on Friday and Augustana will face Carthage in the other semifinal on Friday. Friday's winners will play on Saturday, with the winner of that match winning the four-team tournament earning the CCIW's automatic bid to the 2011 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championship, which begins the following weekend.
