Rock Island, Ill. - The Thunder women's tennis team opened its season on Saturday, after Thursday's scheduled opener at Olivet Nazarene was rained out, with matches against Augustana and Luther.
Wheaton was a 9-0 winner against Augustana in the first match of the day.
The Thunder topped Luther, 5-4 in tightly contested battle in the second match.The last four singles matches against Luther all went to super-tie breakers to decide the matches. Luther won the first two of those final four matches to go ahead of Wheaton in the team score with a 4-3 advantage. Wheaton won the last two matches and to secure the match with the 5-4 victory.
