Wheaton, Ill. – The Wheaton volleyball team defeated Illinois Wesleyan, 3-0 on Tuesday night in King Arena. The Thunder won the first set 25-23 and picked up a 25-21 victory in the second set. Wheaton was 31-29 winner in the third and decisive set that saw the team's battle-back-and forth with neither team having more than a one-point edge from 20-20 on.
Sophomore
Hannah Velling led the Thunder with 13 kills, while freshman
Hannah Graber added seven kills.
Emily Buyse and
Cassie Murphy each had six kills, as Buyse has a team-best six total blocks.
Jenna McCallister had 39 assists, while senior
Ashlie Pace led the Thunder with 16 digs.
Wheaton is now 14-17 on the season, with a 3-4 record in conference play. Illinois Wesleyan falls to 9-19 overall and 0-5 in the CCIW. The Thunder will travel to the Benedictine University's “Eagle Classic# on Saturday for a pair of matches.
