Waverly, Iowa - The Wartburg Knights of Waverly, Iowa hosted the Wheaton volleyball team on Saturday morning. The match was the third and final contest in the Wartburg Invite as the hosts won 3-0 (25-19, 25-23, 25-18).
Both Wartburg and Wheaton were coming off losses heading into the match. This led to competitive performances from both teams. Wartburg won all three sets, with a very competitive second set that was decided by two points, (25-23). Wheaton found its offense from senior middle blocker Sydney Overweg who finished the game with a match-high nine kills and one block. Setter Karalyn Osbourne worked hard to distribute to her teammates throughout the contest, and Alaina Nino added 13 assists. The senior tallied 16 assists through the three sets. Defensively, the freshmen combo of Chelsea Poskocil (17) and Elle Hudepohl (11) dug out a combined 28 digs. Avery Nance registered 10 digs in the match Â
Wheaton returns to action on Tuesday, September 15Â when they host No. 15 ranked Calvin University in King Arena at 6:00 p.m..Â
