St. Peter, Minn. - The Wheaton College women's tennis team opened the NCAA Division III team competition with a 5-0 win over Edgewood College in the first round on Thursday.

The 20th-ranked Thunder improved to 17-4 on the year while the Eagles finished their season with a 13-9 record.

Wheaton rolled through the three doubles matches and got wins at No. 4 and No. 6 singles to advance to the second round. The Thunder will face University of Wisconsin-Whitewater at 9:00 AM on Friday in the second round.
