GAME STATS Rock Island, Ill. - The Thunder women's tennis team played its first CCIW match of the 2024-25 season on Saturday with a league matchup at Augustana College. The Thunder shut out Augustana 7-0. Wheaton improves to 2-1 overall and 1-0 in CCIW play with the road win.

The Thunder swept through singles play against the Vikings. Madeline Gentry was a 6-1, 6-3 victor at No. 1 singles against Hannah Colbert. Alexandra Wachs was a 6-0, 6-1 winner against Anna-Maria Huebel at No. 2 singles. Lydia Adams won a 6-1, 6-0 decision at No. 3 singles against Colleen Larry. Ella Malone was a 6-2, 6-1 winner at No. 4 singles against Natasha Gauerke, and Delaney Canning was a 6-3, 6-3 winner at No. 5 singles against Maitreyi Shrikhande. Wheaton's Tatum Thurstone won her match at No. 6 singles against Maddy Harned 6-4, 7-5. 

The Thunder No. 1 doubles team of Adams and Gentry earned a 6-4 victory against Colbert and Larry. Malone and Wachs teamed for a 6-4 win against Shrikhande and Gauerke at No. 2 doubles. The No. 3 doubles team of Canning and Kondo earned a decisive 6-0 victory against the Vikings' tandem of Maddy Harned and Hattie Timerman.

Wheaton remains on the road next weeked for two more conference matches. The Thunder travel to Kenosha, Wisconsin next Friday for a 4:00 p.m. contest against Carthage. Wheaton takes on Carroll next Saturday for a matchup against the Pioneers.
