Women's track and field competes at UChicago's "Windy City Invite"

Chicago, Ill. – The Thunder men's and women's indoor track and field teams competed at University of Chicago's "Windy City Rumble" on Saturday. The Thunder men's team finished third in a 13-team field, while the Wheaton women's program tied for sixth in an 11-team field.

The University of Chicago women's team scored 146.83 points in first place in the women's team standings. DePaul finished second with 81 points, North Central finished third with 76.83 points, Elmhurst was fourth with 76 points, Lewis was fifth with 64.58 points, while Wheaton and Aurora each scored 31 points in a tie for sixth place.

Four Wheaton runners finished in the top-8 of the women's 5,000-meter run. Louisa Brorson won the event with a time of 18:28.12, followed by Caroline Stetina in second place with a time of 18:44.55. Elizabeth LaBrin was fifth with a time of 19:04.22, and Sarah Quintanilla was eighth with an effort of 19:10.63.

Grace Crowder finished fifth in the women's high jump. The freshman recorded a height of 1.55-meters for a top-five effort in the 28-woman field.

The host Maroons of UChicago finished first in the men's team standings with 160.5 points. Lewis University scored 111 points in second place, Wheaton was third with 51 points, followed by North Central in fourth place with 40.5 points and Aurora rounded out the top -five with 33.5 points.
 
Jacob Fopma finished second in the men's 3,000-meter run with a time of 8:58.82. Teammate Jonah Noyes was eighth in the same event with an effort of 9:12.25. Nathan Gibson posted a time of 15:31.77 in the 5,000-meter run and Luke Wertz was eighth with an effort of 15:48.44  Braedon Veurink finished eighth in the one-mile run with a time of 4:33.1.

Freshman Matt Brown finished third in the finals of the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.97-seconds. Jediah Giller posted a time of 8.66-seconds in the finals of the 60-meter hurdles for a third-place effort. Zachary Welch ran the 400-meter dash in 52.88-seconds to place fourth, while teammate Ethan Zerbe was seventh in 53.25-seconds.

Jaden Pankau placed fifth in the men's shot put with a toss of 14.07-meters. Isaac Bledsoe was fifth in the men's triple jump with a leap of 12.63-meters. Freshman Emmanuel Wang recorded an effort of 6.22-meters in the long jump to finish seventh.
 
The Thunder track and field teams compete at North Central's F. Lee Slick Invitational next Friday in Naperville.
