Naperville, Ill. – The Wheaton track and field teams competed at the 2025 CCIW Outdoor Track & Field Championships this weekend on the campus of North Central College. The Wheaton women's team finished in sixth place.
Elmhurst had a strong effort on Saturday to surge into first place as the Buejays finished with 161.5 points. North Central's women's program finished second with 145 points, Augustana finished third with 114 points, Illinois Wesleyan scored 112.5 points in fourth place and Carthage rounded out the top-five with 89.5 points. Wheaton finished sixth with 75 points, Carroll scored 42 points in seventh place, North Park scored 40.5 points in eighth place and Millikin finished ninth with 39 points.
FRIDAY RECAP
Wheaton had four runners in the top-eight of the women's 10,000-meter run.
Sophia Huber was second in the race with a time of 37:22.57, ahead of teammate
Caroline Stetina in third place with an effort of 38:07.08.
Sarah Quintanilla posted a time of 39:25.61 in fourth place,
Louisa Brorson was seventh in 40:12.49.
Natalie Fopma finished fourth in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:05.94.
Lily Lebo posted a time of 11:43.57 in sixth place and
Elizabeth LaBrin was eighth in 11:48.95.
SATURDAY RECAP
Sophomore
Abby Rickard finished third in the women's 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:44.60. Quintanilla was fifth in 4:50.39. Huber had another strong effort on Saturday with a third place finish in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 18:00.45. Stetina recorded a time of 18:14.47 to place eighth in the 33-woman competition.
Freshman
Sally Elsen was third in the finals of the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:05.07, while fellow freshman
Hannah Harris was fourth in 1:05.20. Elsen recorded a time of 15.39-seconds in the finals of the women's 100-meter hurdles to place seventh. Sophomore
Heidi Krekelberg posted a time of 12.56-seconds in the finals of the 100-meter dash to place seventh.
Grace Crowder cleared a height of 1.58 meters (5' 2-1/4") to finish third in the women's high jump. Junior
Hannah Tompkins scored 3,705 points to finish seventh in the two-day women's heptathlon. Tompkins had a toss of 33.54-meters (110') for the second-ranked effort among the heptathletes in the javelin.
