Wheaton track & field teams kick off indoor season at Carthage

KENOSHA, Wis. – The Wheaton College track & field teams made their indoor season debut at Carthage College's Forever Red Alumni Classic on Saturday.

On the men's side, the Thunder men took fifth out of 10 teams with 35 points. Host Carthage was the team champion with 118 points.

Wheaton's top performer on the afternoon was Ty Bova with a pair of third-place finishes. He ran the 55-meter hurdles in 8.04 and cleared 1.80 meters in the high jump.

The Thunder added a trio of third-place showings with Aidan Langan in the 200 meters (23.19), Dan Sanoussi in the 400 meters (53.56) and Wyatt Shepson in the mile (4:38.43).

On the women's side, Wheaton was third of nine teams in the final standings with 86 points. Carthage claimed the team champion with 120.5 points.

Hannah Harris was the top finisher for the Thunder, as she won the 400 meters in a time of 1:04.51. She also helped her 4x400-meter relay team take runner-up as the lead leg alongside teammates Chloe Dew, Olivia Kiddy and Abby Lawson. The 4x400 squad crossed the line in 4:22.63.

Lawson posted a second-place showing in the 800 meters in a time of 2:34.52, followed by Kiddy in third. Sally Elsen (9.31) and Hannah Tompkins (9.45) grabbed second and third, respectively, in the 55-meter hurdles. Heidi Krekelberg nabbed runner-up in the 200 meters in 27.36, while Ashtin Roy did the same in the pole vault (2.95 meters). Krekelberg placed third in the 55 meters (7.44) and Grace Crowder snagged third place in the high jump at 1.62 meters.

After the holiday break, Wheaton resumes its indoor schedule on February 1 at University of Chicago's Windy City Invite.
