Kenosha, Wis. – The Wheaton track and field teams competed in the 2026 CCIW Outdoor Track & Field Championships opened this weekend on the campus of Carthage College. The Wheaton men's program finished fifth and the Thunder women's program placed fourth.
North Central repeated as the CCIW Men's Outdoor Track & Field Championships with 229.5 points. Augustana placed second with 138.5 points, Carthage finished third with 136.50 points, Illinois Wesleyan scored 107.5 points in fourth place, Wheaton finished fifth in the standings with 65 points. Carroll scored 43 points in sixth place, Millikin was seventh with 42 points, Elmhurst finished eighth with 27 points and North Park scored 24 points in ninth place.
SATURDAY RECAP
Cohen Oberg won the men's decathlon with 5,954 points to finish atop the 12-man field. Oberg was among the top-two in five of the 10 events this weekend. On Saturday he had the top performance in the pole vault portion where he earned 562 points. Ben Maher placed third in the decathlon with 5,723 points. Maher finished the multi-day event well on Saturday with the top performance in the 1,500-meters (600 points) and the second-best performance in the javelin where he earned 579 points.

Record-setting sprinter
Isaac Bledsoe placed in the top-three in the finals of both the men's 100-meter and 200-meter dash on Saturday. Bledsoe (PICTURED LEFT) ran the finals of the 100-meter dash in 10.71-seconds to place second. He placed third in the finals of the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.80-seconds.
Ty Bova finished third in the men's high jump on Saturday with a leap of 1.97-meters (6' 5-1/2"). David Harvin placed fifth in the 400-meter hurdles with an effort of 57.03-seconds
FRIDAY RECAP
Oberg led the men's decathlon after the first five events with 3,303 points. Oberg scored the most points of any decathlete in the long jump portion with a leap of 6.48 meters that earned him 693 points. Oberg's teammate Ben Maher is fourth in the 12-man field with 3,008 points.
Matthias Everest placed third in the 10,000-meters with a time of 31:52.17, while
Josh Steiner placed fourth in 32:00.65.
Cooper Swain posted a time of 9:40.81 in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase to place seventh.
Isaac Bledsoe finished fifth in the men's long jump with an effort of 6.73-meters (22' 1"). Maher recorded a toss of 51.13-meters (167' 9") in the men's javelin throw to place fifth.
