Wheaton, Ill. – The Thunder women's track & field team competed Friday evening in the Elmhurst University Twilight Invitational, held at Wheaton's own McCully Stadium. In a 12-team field, the Thunder women placed seventh overall, scoring 34 points as a team. The University of Chicago Maroons won the meet with 158.5 points overall.
 
Leading the way for Wheaton on the track was 
Destiny Rogers, who placed first in the 3000-meter steeplechase. She won the event with a time of 12:23.32, almost 90 seconds faster than her next-closest competitor.
 
In the 400-meter hurdles, two runners scored for the Thunder. 
Holly Brown earned a fifth-place finish in 1:11.32, with teammate 
Olivia Eisses right on her heels, earning sixth place in 1:12.15.
 
Wheaton also scored well in distance events, with three Thunder runners placing in each of the 1500-meter and 3000-meter races. In the 1500, 
Chloe Veth placed sixth in 5:03.36, 
Ruth Daghfal earned seventh place in 5:05.87, and 
Laura Prothero placed eighth with a time of 5:07.31. In the 3000, 
Natalie Conrad led her teammates with a fifth-place finish in 11:02.30, followed by 
Lily Lebo in sixth in 11:07.30 and 
Elizabeth LaBrin in eighth in 11:16.26.
 
The final Wheaton athletes helping score for the Thunder on Friday night were the four members of Wheaton's 4x400 squad. 
Tavinya Taylor, 
Christiana Hannam, 
Meredith Eisses, and 
Laura Prothero ran a relay time of 4:34.60, good for eighth place.
 
This weekend marked the final chance for Wheaton to compete ahead of the CCIW Outdoor Championships, which will be held next Friday and Saturday, May 5-6, at Carroll University in Waukesha, Wis.
