The Thunder women's track & field team places fourth at the CCIW Outdoor T&F Championships

Kenosha, Wis. – The Wheaton track and field teams competed in the 2026 CCIW Outdoor Track & Field Championships opened this weekend on the campus of Carthage College. The Wheaton women's program finished fourth and the Thunder men's program placed fifth.

Elmhurst won the CCIW Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championship this weekend with 142 points. North Central scored 128 points in second place, Illinois Wesleyan finished third with 121.5 points, and the Wheaton women's program finished fourth with 116 points. Augustana finished 112 points in fifth place, Carthage scored 91 points in sixth place, followed by Carroll with 53.5 points in seventh place, North Park and Millikin each tied for eighth with 27 points.

The Thunder women's team produced four CCIW Championships this weekend as Heidi Krekelberg won the women's 100 and 200 meter dash finals, Grace Crowder won the high jump and the women's 4X100-meter relay team of Sadie Richert, Hannah Harris, Rose Spagnolo and Heidi Krekelberg finished first.   

SATURDAY RECAP
Krekelberg finished first in three events on Saturday with an outstanding day. She posted a time of 12.11-seconds in the finals of the women's 100-meter dash on Saturday to improve on her qualifying time on Friday of 12.25-seconds. She picked up her third CCIW Championship day on Saturday with a first-place time of 25.39-seconds. Spagnolo was third in the 200-meter dash with an effort of 25.60-meters.

Grace CrowderKrekelberg, Spagnolo, Harris, and Richert finished first in the 4X100-meter relay with a time of 48.15-seconds, besting the Augustana quartet that posted a time of 48.48-seconds in second place.

Crowder (PICTURED LEFT) won her second career CCIW Championship in the outdoor high jump. Her height of 1.62-meters (5' 3-3/4") was ahead of the second-place effort of 1.59-meters.

Sophomore Sally Elsen finished second in the finals of the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.92-seconds. She also had a second-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:05.52 and teammate Hannah Harris was fourth in 1:05.90.

Hannah Tompkins placed third in the women's heptathlon with 3,881 points. Sophomore Allison Roozeboom placed third in the women's shot put with an effort of 12.76-meters (41' 10-1/2"). She also finished sixth in the women's discus throw with a toss of 37.19-meters (122').

Clodagh O'Bryant finished sixth in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:52.00. Abby Rickard was seventh in 4:52.74 and Emmarie Marino was eighth in 4:57.11. Lily Lebo placed sixth in the women's 5,000-meter run in 18:32.82 and Elizabeth LaBrin was seventh in 18:36.28.

FRIDAY RECAP
Three Wheaton competitors finished in the top-eight of the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase. Freshman Clodagh O'Bryant finished second in the event with a time of 10:58.30. Elizabeth La Brin posted a time of 11:37.61, while Allie Woolever was sixth in 11:37.77.

Hannah Tompkins is in fourth place through day one of the women's heptathlon competition. She has scored 2,320 points through the first four events. The heptathlon concludes on Saturday with the long jump, javelin throw and 800-meters.
