Women's track and field competes at ONU Invitational

Bourbonnais, Ill. – The Wheaton women's track and field team competed in its first indoor meet of 2022 on Saturday at Olivet Nazarene University. No team scores were kept at Saturday's event, but first-place showings in the 60-meter hurdles and 3000-meter run highlighted the day for the Thunder.
 
Junior Amy Keane won the 60-meter hurdles for Wheaton with a time of 9.45 seconds. Fellow juniors Abi Gum and Olivia Eisses came in third and seventh, respectively, with times of 9.92 and 10.87 seconds.
 
In the 3000-meter run, junior Susannah Bennett (PICTURED ABOVE) took first thanks to a time of 10:38.04. Sophomore Michaela Kustra finished fifth in 11:06.53, and sophomore Hope Clark placed seventh with a time of 11:18.84.
 
Gum earned a second-place finish in the 200-meter run. The junior finished in 26.95 seconds, while fellow junior Amy Keane placed fourth in 27.47 seconds, and senior Maddie Cote finished in 29.41 seconds, good for eighth place.
 
Gum also placed in the long jump, earning fourth with a leap of 4.72 meters. Eisses jumped 4.36 meters for eighth place.
 
In the 800-meter run, senior Dianna Gagnon earned a second-place finish thanks to a time of 2:32.06. Juniors Chloe Veth and Stacy Roberts also placed for the Thunder: Veth finished fifth in 2:34.30, and Roberts finished eighth in 2:42.71.
 
Wheaton had two relay squads make the finals in the 4x400. Keane, Alyssa Milligan, Eisses and Gum earned a third-place finish with a time of 4:30.10. Also in the top-8, with a sixth-place finish and a time of 4:39.42, was Holly Brown, Gagnon, Roberts, and Veth.
 
In the 400-meter run, sophomore Jillian Edwards finished eighth in 1:11.36, while in the 600-meter run, sophomore Holly Brown also placed eighth with a time of 1:57.59.
 
Freshman Natalie Conrad kicked off her collegiate indoor career with a sixth-place finish in the mile, thanks to a time of 5:52.14.
 
The only field competitor to place for Wheaton was senior Anna Cressman, who finished third in the shot put thanks to a toss of 11.82 meters.
 
Next up, the Thunder will head to Carthage on Friday, February 4 for the Tadd Metzger Invitational.
