Hanover Park, Ill. - The Wheaton women's tennis team rallied on Saturday to earn the program's 22nd CCIW Championship. Wheaton won five of the six head-to-head matches in singles play between the Thunder and the Vikings in singles play today. Wheaton also one head to matchup with Augustana in doubles action today.
The conference tournament uses a system that combines the regular standings with points earned from this weekend's tournament. Based on the conference's system Wheaton finished with 26 points to finish first, Augustana concluded with 25 points in second place, Carthage finished third with 20 points, North Central tallied 19 points in fourth place, Millikin finished fifth with 14 points, Carroll had 13 points in sixth place, Illinois Wesleyan finished seventh with eight points, North Park and Elmhurst tied for eighth with five points each.

Jane Nelson commented on her team, "So proud of the team. We have talked all Fall about putting ourselves in a position to win the conference championship. Every player on our roster played a role in this win. Everyone came to practice daily and pushed each other to get better. It was a real battle with Augustana today. They have a very good team. Nicole Freeman won all of their matches today in singles and doubles and really led the team. We refused to lose."
SATURDAY RECAP
Claire Dibble rallied to win the conference title at No. 3 singles. Dibble defeated Michaela Magee of Augustana 6-1, 5-7, 6-3 in the championship match.
Nicole Freeman won the CCIW Championship at No. 4 singles. Freeman was a 6-3, 6-3 victor against Augustana's Lilly Schoeck, the top seed at No. 4 singles.

Abygale Ahn was a 6-1, 6-2 victor against Augustana's Lauren Oda to win the conference championship at No. 5 singles.Â
Wheaton's fourth conference championship in singles play was won by
Bethany Hoogerheide at No. 6 singles. She defeated Augustana's Kalli Majewski 6-4, 3-6, 6-0 in their championship match.
Augustana's Zeana Badawi defeated Wheaton's
Emme Lindquist 6-3, 6-2 in their matchup in the championship match at No. 2 singles.
Claire Browning won her matchup in the third-place match at No. 1 singles. She defeated Carroll's Grace Krueger 8-1.Â
Dibble and Freeman won the CCIW Championship at No. 2 doubles as the duo defeated Ramsey and Anderson of Carthage, 8-2 in the championship match.Â
Lindquist and Hoogerheide won a conference title in doubles play as they teamed to earn an 8-6 victory at No. 3 doubles against the Augustana team of Majewski and Abbott.
The Thunder No. 1 doubles team of Browning and Ahn paired for an 8-4 victory in the third place match against the Carthage team of Apolstoli and Ptak.

Emme Lindquist won her semifinal match at No. 2 singles Thursday. Lindquist was a 6-3, 6-0 victor against Carthage's Jen Ptak. Lindquist will face Augustana's Zeana Badawi, the top seed, tomorrow in the championship match at No. 2 singles.
Claire Dibble advanced to the championship match at No. 3 singles with a 6-3, 6-4 victory against Carthage's Samantha Ramsey on Friday in the semifinals. Dibble will play No. 1 seed Michaela Magee of Augustana on Saturday in the championship match at No. 3 singles.
