Men's cross country places ninth at UW-Eau Claire Blugold Invitational

The Wheaton Thunder men's cross country team returned to action on Friday at the UW-Eau Claire Blugold Invitational. The Thunder finished ninth in the 29-team field.

UW-Stout finished first with 75 points, St. Olaf was second with 82 points and UW-Eau Claire placed third with 111 points, Carleton scored 112 points in fourth place and UW-Stevens Point rounded out the top-five with 134 points. UW-Platteville scored 165 points in sixth place, Minnesota-Duluth finished seventh with 231 points, UW-Whitewater placed eighth with 245 points Wheaton scored 281 points in ninth and Michigan Tech was 10th with 295 points.

UW-Eau Claire's Patrick Treacy posted a time of 24:39.9 on the 8K course in first place in the 430-man field. Lucas Mueller was second in 24:41.6 and Darin Lau was third in 24:42.9.

Junior Seth Massot had the top performance for the Thunder with a time of 26:09.3 in 47th place. Senior Grant Alexander placed 49th in 26:11.5 and freshman Kevin Riley was 55th in 26:23.6. Sophomore Jonah Jones registered a time of 26:32.0 in 64th place and senior Seth Spykstra was 82nd in 26:45.6. Junior Michael Larkin was 88th in 26:48.1 and Michael Smith ran the course in 27:10.3 to finish 115th.   

The Thunder cross country teams return to competition on October 13 at the UW-Oshkosh Kollege Town Sports Invite in Winneconne, Wisconsin.
