Wheaton, Ill. - The Wheaton Thunder women's tennis team picked up an 8-1 CCIW victory against Elmhurst College on Friday night at the Wheaton Tennis Courts. Tonight's victory improves the Thunder to 5-0 in the season and 3-0 in conference play.

The Thunder opened with a 2-1 advantage thanks to a pair of wins in doubles competition. Wheaton's No. 1 doubles team of Claire Browning and Nicole Freeman teamed for an 8-1 victory against the Elmhurst tandem of Chiara Guadio and Ysabel Gonzaga. Emma Westwick and Lindsey Anderson picked up an 8-3 win at No. 3 singles against the Elmhurst pairing of Sarah Paist and Maddy Freeman. 

Wheaton swept the Bluejays in the six singles matches tonight. Westwick rallied for a 2-6, 6-1, 10-2 victory at No. 1 singles against Gaudio. Sara Magnuson topped Rachel Rettger 6-0, 6-2 at No. 2 singles and Browning was a 6-0, 6-0 victor at No. 3 singles in a matchup against  Gonzaga. Freeman bested Elmhurst's Kathryn Wheeler 6-2, 6-0 at No. 4 singles and Wheaton's Bethany Hoogerheide picked up a win 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5 singles against Sarah Paist. Anderson earned a 6-4, 6-1 win against Elmhurst's Dacey Maglaque in the matchup at No. 6 singles.

Wheaton remains in conference action for its next matchup with the Thunder travels to North Central on September 25 at 3:00 p.m.
