Lisle, Ill. - The Wheaton track and field teams competed at the Benedictine University Eagle Relays on Friday. The event was shortened to just one day as Saturday's events for the meet were canceled due to cold and rainy weather in the forecast for Saturday.
Thunder junior Aryn Embretson led a strong Wheaton contingent among the 44 competitors in the women's 3,000-meter run. Embretson finished first with a time of 10:38.69, Megan Bailey was fifth in 10:57.40 and Hannah Oechsle placed sixth in 11:00.09.
Freshman Hannah Roeske finished first among the 26 participants in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:01.81, just ahead of teammate Ellie Hawthorne in second place with a time of 11:08.87. Laura Barnes posted a time of 11:43.27 in seventh place. Junior Erika Johnson posted a time of 4:52.60 in the 1,500-meter run to finish fifth in the event.
Sophomore Favor Ezewuzie placed fourth in the 200-meter dash in 25.88-seconds and senior Maggie Dansdill was fifth in 25.89-seconds. Ezewuzie was fourth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.98-seconds and Abby Grace McGee was fifth in the same event with a time of 15.44-seconds.
Wheaton took the top two spots in the 1,600-meter sprint medley relay. The foursome of Dansdill, Anna Ifft, Natasha Brown and Nicole Kitchen finished first in 4:21.22. Wheaton grouping of McGee, Tess Sutton, Rose Favino and Ally Lyle finished second with a time of 4:28.42.
The 4X200-meter relay team of McGee, Sutton, Favino and Cassidy Foxhoven posted a time of 1:51.28 to place second in the event. The distance medley relay of Kiersten Island, Marissa Heath, Sophia Becker and Becca Smith finished second in 14:00.60.
