Naperville, Ill. – The Wheaton women's track and field opened up the 2026 outdoor schedule this weekend with events at North Central College. On Friday, NCC hosted the Distance Fling and on Saturday the First Chance Invitational hosted more events.
Wheaton took the top two spots in the women's 100-meter dash on Saturday.
Heidi Krekelberg won the event in 12.69-seconds and
Rose Spagnolo was second in 12.88-seconds.
Hannah Harris was second in the 200-meter dash on Saturday in 26.03-seconds.
Sadie Richert placed sixth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:01.11.
Recent All-American
Grace Crowder placed second in the high jump with an effort of 1.59-meters (5' 2-1/4") that matched winner Olivia Jameson of IIT's effort, however, Jameson was first on the tiebreaker.
Sally Elsen finished second in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.44-seconds. Elsen also had a fifth-place effort in the long jump with an effort of 5.13-meters (16' 10").
Allison Roozeboom placed third in the women's discus throw with a toss of 36.45-meters (119' 7"). Roozeboom was fifth in the shot put with an effort of 11.80-meters (38' 8-3/4").
At Friday's distance event, four Wheaton runners finished in the top-eight of the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase. Freshman
Clodagh O'Bryant was third in 11:41.67 and
Elizabeth LaBrin placed fourth in 11:55.51.
Lily Lebo posted a time of 11:58.79 in fifth place and
Ally Crumley was eighth in 12:20.57. On Saturday, Thunder sophomore
Emmarie Marino placed fifth in the women's 800-meter run with a time of 2:27.57, while teammate
Tavinya Taylor was seventh in 2:29.73.
SCHEDULE NOTE: The Wheaton Invitational track meet that had been scheduled for Thursday, April 2 is being moved up to Tuesday, March 31 due to weather concerns for April 2. Throwing events will begin at 10:30 a.m. at Wheaton's Lawson Field. Running events will begin at 11:00 a.m. with the 400-meter relay. The high jump, long jump and pole vault are all scheduled to begin at approximately 11:30 a.m.
