Four All-American recognitions highlight Wheaton's performance at the Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships

Birmingham, Alabama - Five individuals and one relay team represented Wheaton at the 2018 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships this weekend at the Birmingham Crossplex in Birmingham, Alabama. The Thunder women's program sent three individuals and one relay; while two members of the Wheaton men's program competed.

The Thunder women's program finished 41st in the 105-team field and the Wheaton men placed 53rd in the 99-team field.

Sophomore Favor Ezewuzie (PICTURED LEFT) earned All-America recognition in the women's 60-meter hurdles with a sixth place finish in the finals of the event. Ezewuzie had a terrific start in the event, posting a time of 8.92-seconds.

Hannah Roeske set a new school record in the women's 3,000-meter run with a time of 9:4434. The freshman finished eighth in the 17-woman field to finish on the podium and earn All-America recognition.

Wheaton's third All-America honor on Saturday went to senior Collin Gray. Gray placed sixth in the men's high jump with a height of 2.06-meters (6' 9"). Gray is now a two-time All-American in the high jump, also earning the honor at the 2016 Division III Outdoor Championships.

Katie Lindquist finished 12th in the 17-woman field for the women's high jump. Lindquist cleared a height of 1.60-meters (5' 3").

FRIDAY RECAP
In the final event of the day, Wheaton finished eighth in the women's distance medley relay finished eighth in the 12-team field with a time of 11:51.92. The top eight finishers in each event at Nationals earn All-America recognition as the quartet of Marissa HeathHannah RoeskeErika Johnson and Brianna Hawthorne pick up the honor.

Sophomore Favor Ezewuzie posted a time of 8.93-seconds in the women's 60-meter hurdles to place second in her heat and seventh overall in the 17-woman field. Ezewuzie's finish earned her one of eight spots in the finals of the event tomorrow at 2:10 p.m. (CST). She is assured of All-America honors in the 60-meter hurdles since the finals feature eight women on Saturday.

Junior Leif Van Grinsven participated in the first four events in the seven-discipline men's heptathlon on Friday. Van Grinsven is 13th in the competition with 2,524 points. He had a time of 7.43-second in the 60-meter dash to collect 736 points and earned 628 points in the long jump with a leap of 6.19-meters (20' 3-3/4"). He had a toss of 11.49-meters (37' 8-1/2") in the shot put to record 575 points and his height of 1.75-meters (5' 8-3/4") in the high jump earned him 585 points. Van Grinsven withdrew from the competition for Saturday's final three disciplines.
