Luke Vance earns All-American in 800-meter run, Orewiler competes in finals of 1-mile run

Wheaton senior Jaime Orewiler and junior Luke Vance are representing the Thunder track and field programs at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships this weekend on the campus of Grinnell College.

Vance finished sixth in the eight-man finals of the men's 800-meter run with a time of 1:56.04. Vance qualified for Saturday's finals with a time of 1:53.35 in the 13-man prelims. He posted the sixth-fastest time in the prelims to qualify for the eight-man finals.

By finishing in the top-eight in the finals at the Division III Championships, Vance earns All-American honors in the event. It is the second All-American recognition for Vance who earned outdoor All-American honors in the 800-meter run last spring at the 2011 Division III Outdoor Track Championships. He is Wheaton's first indoor track All-American since Ryan Rodgers in the 55-meter hurdles in 2001.

Orewiler (PICTURED LEFT) finished 10th in the finals of the women's one-mile run on Saturday with a time of 5:07.24. She qualifed for the finals on Friday afternoon, with an effort of 4:58.81 to break her own school record in the event. Her prelim performance was the 10th-fastest time in the 15-woman field.
