Wheaton, Ill. -- The Thunder women's golf team ended a six-month break from competition on Friday and Saturday, as three of its members took part in Lewis University's Flyer Spring Invitational at Cantigny Golf in Wheaton. The trio of players competed on an individual basis, and Wheaton did not register a team score at the two-day event.
All three of Wheaton's representatives at this weekend's competition were freshmen, and neither of the upperclassmen golfers on the roster took part.
Arabella Hall carded the top score for the Thunder across the two days of play, posting a 92 on Friday before shaving nine strokes off of that total today to finish with a 175 combined mark. This weekend tally placed her T-28th in the 45-golfer field.
Abby Smith and
Molly Holbert competed for Wheaton for the very first time this weekend, having joined the team after its fall season. Smith registered a total score of 238, while her fellow rookie Holbert posted a total tally of 275 and both players improved their performances in Saturday's round.
The Thunder women's squad has a short break before its next scheduled event - a dual meet against Benedictine University. The two programs are set to square off at 1 PM on Wednesday in West Chicago.
