led off the third inning with a double to left center but would get no further than second base. Kyle Mellinger was hit by a pitch and stole second with one out in the fifth but again Wheaton could not get the run home. Martin finally found trouble in the bottom of the fifth when a leadoff single and a walk put runners on first and second with one out but a timely double play ended the inning.
Finally, Wheaton broke through in the top of the eighth inning when Kimmel (PICTURED LEFT) led off with a single and was moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Schappell. after a strikeout, Martin was intentionally walked and John Jensen-Johnson came up with an RBI single through the right side to give Wheaton the 1-0 lead.

Another double play by the Thunder erased a one-out walk in the bottom of the eighth and Martin emphatically closed the game with his 13th strikeout of the afternoon for the final out. Nick Hahn recorded both hits off of Martin for the Titans. Josh Kimmel was 2-4 with the lone run scored for the Thunder.

Wheaton will conclude its three-game series with Elmhurst on Wednesday night at 5 PM at Lee Pfund Stadium.
