An RBI single by Howe (PICTURED RIGHT) in the top of the seventh inning pushed the lead to 5-1 as Matt Krause came around to score. North Central responded in a big way in the bottom of the seventh, rallying for five runs on just three hits and taking advantage of an error, two hit by pitches and a walk to chase Martin and take a 6-5 lead. North Central would add another run in the bottom of the eighth for insurance and would close out the 7-5 Cardinal victory.

Martin allowed six runs (five earned) on seven hits with two walks and six strikeouts in 6.2 innings pitched. John Schmitz allowed one run on two hits in 1.1 innings of relief and Tom Bishop threw a perfect third of an inning of work. Bryan Polowy earned the win for the Cardinals in a complete game effort, allowing five runs on eight hits with two walks and five strikeouts.

Wheaton will wrap up the nonconference portion of its schedule with a home-and-home series with Benedictine University on Tuesday and Wednesday nights. Wheaton will host the Eagles on Tuesday night at Lee Pfund Stadium and will travel to Lisle for Wednesday night's matchup. Both games will start at 6 PM.
