The evening did not begin well for the Thunder, as the first five batters for Concordia reached base in the top of the first inning. A two-out single by Dan Lo Dolce made it 4-0, with Kyle Huber being tagged out at home on the play to end the first inning.

Concordia built their lead to 7-0 on a solo home run by Olavarria leading off the third inning and a two-run shot by Huber with two out in the fifth. After Wheaton scored in the bottom of the fifth, the Cougars answered with a run-scoring single by Steve Zubrzycki in the top of the sixth to make it 8-1.

Concordia finished off the scoring in the ninth inning as Olavarria scored his third run of the game on a two-out single by Rich Santarelli to make it 9-1. Cody Caballero (2-0) struck out seven while allowing five hits and one run in seven innings to earn the win for the Cougars.

Wheaton will host a CCIW doubleheader against the Millikin Big Blue on Friday, with the first game scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
