Game one got off to an extremely quick start as the first four innings were completed in just 35 minutes with only three baserunners. Wheaton's Josh Arevalo and Augustana's Chris Sauer continued to match zeros until both teams threatened in the sixth inning. Augustana used back to back singles to put runners on the corners with two outs but Arevalo quelled the threat with a strikeout. Wheaton countered with one-out walk to Josh Kimmel and used a succesful hit and run with Matt Schappell (PICTURED RIGHT) to put runners on the corners with one out. Justin Swider's line drive single through the left side of the infield plated Kimmel to give Wheaton the only run it would need.

The Vikings were able to get a runner to second base with two outs in the seventh but another Arevalo strikeout ended the inning. A one-out single in the top of the eighth was erased by an Arevalo pickoff. The Vikings put the tying run on second with one out in the top of the ninth but a flyout and Arevalo's eighth strikeout of the afternoon gave Wheaton the 1-0 victory.

Arevalo allowed just seven hits with no walks and eight strikeouts in nine innings of work while improving to 4-0 on the season. Chris Sauer (2-1) allowed six hits and walked one with three strikeouts in eight innings of work for the Vikings.

Augustana was able to return the favor in the nightcap holding Wheaton to just one hit, a Schappell single in the fourth inning, and registering the shutout. A pair of errors proved costly for the Thunder including a two-out error in the top of the second inning that gave Augustana the early 1-0 lead. Another error in the top of the fourth opened the door for a three-run inning that gave the visitors a 4-0 lead. The Vikings added another run in the top of the seventh inning to account for the 5-0 final score.
