Wheaton swimmers sweep dual meets with North Central, Illinois Wesleyan

Wheaton, Ill.
- The Wheaton Thunder men's and women's swim teams each swept a double dual meet with North Central and Illinois Wesleyan on Saturday at Chrouser Natatorium. The Wheaton women defeated North Central 93-38 and topped Illinois Welseyan 80-58 while the men bested North Central 100-19 and defeated Illinois Wesleyan 89-48.

Amanda MacLurg
Both the Wheaton men and women each won 10 events on Saturday. Kirsty Nitz, Amanda MacLurg and Emma Rogers won two events apiece. Nitz claimed the 200-yard freestyle in 1:54.57 and the 100-yard freestyle in 52.76 seconds. MacLurg (PICTURED RIGHT) won the 100-yard butterfly in 1:03.07 and the 200-yard butterfly in 2:20.00. Emma Rogers won the 100-yard backstroke in 1:04.57 and the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:38.82.

Erin Bagley won the 100-yard breaststroke by over six seconds with a time of 1:08.12. Hannah Reuger won the 50-yard freestyle in 25.62 seconds. Carlie Herich took the best time in the 200-yard backstroke in 2:12.19. Nicole Eklund won the 500-yard freestyle in 5:28.69, a 21 second edge over the runner-up.

Parker Roth
On the men's side, Will McCauley and Parker Roth each won two events. McCauley won the 200-yard freestyle in 1:46.99 and the 500-yard freestyle in 4:50.03. Roth (PICTURED LEFT) won the one-meter and three-meter diving competitions with 277.50 points and 264.05 points respectively.

In a very unusual occurance, Nathaniel Mullins and Philip Meyer tied in the 1000-yard freestyle. Both recorded personal best times with an identical time of 11:18.38. Jon Lait won the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:01.93. John Mottice claimed the 200-yard backstroke in 2:08.00. Sam Chong won the 200-yard breaststroke witha time of 2:20.27. Zack Schoppen won the 100-yard butterfly in 55.53 seconds.

Wheaton swimmers will continue their tune-ups for the upcoming CCIW Championships with a meet on Thursday night at 4 PM at North Central College.
